Klondike Derby is a skills based competition designed for unit leaders to determine skill levels of their scouts in relation to other participants. As an option units may bring “dog” sleds to transport all of the equipment needed to navigate through skills stations. This may take any form. Time will be provided at lunch time Saturday for each unit to prepare and compete in a chili cook off competition. All meals are provided by the UNIT, no food is included with this event.

Location:
Camp Lazarus
4422 Columbus Pike
Delaware, Ohio 43015
Phone: (740) 548-5502

Time:
Camping Friday is optional. We will not be able to camp Saturday due to Scout Sunday Feb 10th. If camping we will organize departure at 6 PM sharp from Bexley Methodist Church parking lot. Units may arrive after 5 PM on Friday and proceed directly to pre-assigned (TBD) camping locations. All vehicles and trailers MUST remain in the parking lots at all times.

If you are just coming for Saturday, and not camping, check-in is at the Welcome Center at 8:15 AM. Flag ceremony is at 8:40 and the stations start at 9 AM. The program will run from flag opening on Saturday (8:40 AM) through awards Saturday night.

Chili Cook Off:
Patrols/Units will have from 11 AM until 12:15 PM to prepare chili for tasting in the chili cook off. The competition will be done in the area outside of nature center. Scoring will be based on Color, Aroma, Texture, Flavor, and Heat! Cooking MUST be done in the area designated (not in your camping location).
