Monday, October 16, 7:30 – 9 pm. Scout meeting @ church and Troop Committee meeting
Today’s troop committee meeting will continue discussion of our updated priorities, started at last month’s meeting. All committee members and other adults are welcome to attend and continue our planning to take the troop to the next level.
Monday, October 23, 7:30 – 9 pm. Scout meeting @ church, Board of Review, plus Pack Shakedown for Backpacking outing
Today’s meeting will be used to do a shakedown to make sure all attending the backpacking outing this weekend have the right equipment. Bring your fully packed backpack to this meeting. Also, there are many rank requirements including use of a lightweight stove, hiking, and fire building that can be signed off on this outing, so we will use today’s meeting on final planning to ensure we make the most of the outing.
This meeting is also a Board of Review. The Board of Review takes place every month, and it allows those Scouts who have completed all their other rank requirements to complete a final review with uniformed adults to earn their rank.
Friday, October 27, 6 pm – Sunday, October 29, noon. Backpacking Camp Out!
Tar Hollow State Park
16396 Tar Hollow Road
Laurelville, Ohio 43135
Two routes will be available. All scouts below first class will do a roughly five mile day hike on Saturnday, and should bring a daypack in which they can carry water, lunch and snacks, and extra layers.
Scouts who are first class and above will have the option of going on an overnight backpacking route Saturday – Sunday for which they should be prepared to carry all camping items (tent, sleeping bag, pad, rain coat, warm layers, mess kit, etc.) including 3-4 L of water (overnight camp is dry).
The troop has extra equipment available — let us know if you need anything.
Cost: $25/person.
Meet @ 6 pm Friday at church. Return around Noon on Sunday. Backpacking group may return a bit later due to the longer route.
