Seabase – Out Island Adventure
Big Munson Island – FL Keys
FISHING
On our fishing day, we swam out to the dock to meet Cap’n Ron (have you seen his movie yet?) and the Dusky Reef Scout for our day of fishing.
The fishing trip really had two purposes:
- Fun
- Dinner
In any event, we spent the morning trolling off the reef for blue tunneys, a type of tuna which was pretty good eatin! We also caught a Cero mackerel, but didn’t find a good spot to fish for mahi-mahi (dolphin fish). We spent lunch on a small deserted island on the gulf side of the keys, and then spent the afternoon catching fish in Cap’n Ron’s special fishing hole. I’d tell you where it is, but the Capn wouldn’t approve. Anyway, we caught about 50 grunts and 1-2 small snappers. The grunts we threw back, but it was fun throwing a line in and coming back with a fish within a few minutes!
In case you don’t believe us, here are some of the photos!
Hey, this feels sort of…fishy!
As you can see, we had plenty for dinner–Yum!
