July 4th is the celebration of our country’s birthday and one of the busiest days in Scouting for Troop 166. The parade for Scouts and adults kicks off at 9:30(we gather at 9). We lead the parade, handing out U.S. flags to the crowd. In the evening we cook hot dogs and hamburgers and sell them to the crowds as they gather for the fireworks. It’s a big day of service and fund-raising. Also, for adults and older Scouts available before the parade, we appreciate your assistance with Parade Marshalling !
If you’re a Scout, you want to take part in the Parade and Cook-out !!  Adults, come join the fun.

Sign up here for the Parade and the cook-out (adults and Scouts): http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040e4cada62eab9-201612

Scouts earn service hours for marshalling and for the parade. Scouts can choose to earn service hours or money for their Scout account for the cook-out.
In order for our July 4th cook-out to be successful, we need each Scout family to donate 24 cans (2 twelve-packs) of soda.  What we need is listed in the sign-up (click below).  Please sign up for 2 twelve-packs and then drop them off at the Bruegge-Fulton home on July 1 to July 3.

The Bruegge-Fulton household is 49 N. Merkle Rd (between Broad and Denver). Drop off inside of the enclosed back porch at the rear of the house. Soda can be dropped off on the back porch at any time on July 1 to July 3.  The porch is covered. Soda can be left on the floor just inside of the door.

Please note that each choice is for 12 cans.  Please choose 2 items.

A Cool Opportunity – Beekeeping Project Kick off is scheduled for May 21st!

Bexley Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are launching an ambitious, year-round joint venture to establish and care for two bee hives in Bexley, and harvest and market the honey.  The program will be funded by a Bexley Community Foundation grant and guided by the Stratford Ecological Center.

Following a special May 21 kickoff event, several Boy Scouts will be selected to lead the project and enroll in an intensive, 9-session, 18-week apprenticeship program at the Stratford Ecological Center in Delaware County. Boy Scouts interested in leading the beekeeping project should attend the May 21 event and afterward fill out an application and interview for consideration.  The grant will fund their tuition.

All Scouts are encouraged to attend the kickoff event.  The project will be a team effort by all Cub Scouts from Pack 166 and Boy Scouts from Troop 166.  After the May 21 event, two hives will be relocated from Stratford to Bexley for the Scouts.  Dave Noble, a Bexley resident and Stratford apiarist, is mentoring the Scout project.

A huge thank you to Mr. Dutton for securing the grant to initiate this project!

Please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040e4cada62eab9-beekeeping. (Please make a note if your Scout needs a ride. We may organize a carpool depending on need).

On the Saturday before Easter (this year on March 26) we assist the Bexley Recreation and Parks Department to conduct the annual Easter Egg Hunt.

We gather (in uniform) at 9:30AM to set up the field and hide the eggs. (Time was previously 10 AM, but we moved it 1/2 hour earlier to finish in time).

We assist with marshaling the crowds and then do cleanup after the event.

We’ll also need adults (parents and uniformed leaders) to supervise.

The Easter Egg Hunt goes on rain or shine, so watch the weather to determine how warmly to dress or if rain gear is needed.

Scouts earn service hours for their time helping with the event.

DATE: 3/26//2016 (Sat 9:30AM – 12:30PM)

LOCATION: Jeffrey Park

Please let me know if there are questions or concerns.
