The Glacier Ridge District of the Greater Cleveland Council in northeast Ohio holds its Winter Klondike at the end of January each year.
We attended last year for the first time and had a great time, so we’re going to cross our finders, hope for snow and take off for Rock Creek, Ohio. That’s the location of Beaumont Scout Reservation, about 40 miles east of Cleveland (a 3 hour drive from Bexley).
We’ll meet at the Church on Friday, January 25 at 6PM and head to Camp Beaumont. We’ll spend the night in a cabin (with gas heat) and get up early to participate in a full day of competitions with other Scout Troops in Scout related events. We plan to be out in the weather all day on Saturday, so look at a weather forecast and pack appropriately. It’s likely to be snowy or muddy, so boots are a good idea. Sunday evening there is an event for all the troops that are taking part in the Klondike.
Sunday morning we’ll clean up and return to Bexley, arriving around noon.
Cost for the outing will be $30 (food, cabin, and participation fee for the Klondike) and is due on Monday (this Monday 1/14 at the Troop meeting) . Monday is our last Troop meeting prior to the outing, as there is no meeting on Monday Jan. 21 because of the school holiday
We will also need one or two other adults to drive and/or spend the weekend with us.
Here are the Scouts that I believe are attending:
Elijah C.
Noah D.
Bryden G.
Ian H.
Nick L (Maybe)
Jack N.
James RS (Maybe)
Eddie R
Ben R
Casey S.
PLEASE CHECK THE LIST AND LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, OR CHANGES.
Also let me know if there are questions.
Yours in Scouting,
Mr. Fulton
